How to be a recessionista...

Okay a recessionista sounds kind of dorky and funny but you get what I am trying to say. If not well I am just trying to say is how to be stylish while not going over your budget.
I know when we are in college we don't have much money to spend on other things we want and/or need.
Here I will give you some tips I learned from my mum, friends, online articles, blogs, ect.

Beauty
Source
Many of us like to maintain a beauty regiment: get our nails done, hair cut, hair dye, facials, ect. Many of the things we do can be very pricey. There are many ways to get all your beauty needs without the need of spending half of your paycheck.

Hair:

Hair, to many of us, is very important. We do what we can to keep it healthy and shiny. Here are some tips to do just that with out the need of spending so much money.
  • Hair trim: A hair trim, depending on the place, can cost around 15-30 dollars, sometimes even more. The last trim I got I spend a good 35 dollars. Even though I don't mind spending that much on my hair, I just simple don't have all the money in the world to do it every six weeks. ( I have long hair).
A good way to save your money and get your hair trim is going to a beauty school. Yes a beauty school. They will charge you around 7 dollars for a trim, depending on the place.
A tip about beauty schools: Don't get a trendy hair cut there, like for example a short bob or layers. From my experience, I went to get a "scene" like hair cut a few years back and my hair looked like a child played with scissors. In her defense, she didn't know how to razor cut hair.
Also, if you feel she doesn't know what she is doing, SPEAK UP. Don't be afraid to tell them you don't want your hair cut by them.

  • Deep Conditioner: I like to deep condition my hair every few weeks, since I dye my hair all the time. Many salons offer deep conditioning your hair, but again this can get very pricey. So here are some products that work just as well.
    I like using:
    3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner

This Deep conditioner makes my hair very soft and it also smells really great. This product isn't pricey and can last a while.

This product is my favorite deep conditioner. I love how soft my hair feels after using it. I don't use it that often though, every 4-6 weeks. This product also come in a trial size pack that can cost no more than a dollar.
  • Hair Dye and Highlights: Unfortunately, I don't know what to tell you for this topic. This is an area that should be invested on a good hair colorist. If you still want to add some color and not spend a lot here are a few tips to help:
Get highlights instead of full on color. Highlights, when done right, could last a while with out the need of retouching. Just make sure they are low-lights and that they are not too light of your natural color.
If you plan to dye your hair at home, don't go over two shades darker or lighter then your natural hair color. This is a disaster waiting to happen, Trust me.
Skin:Source

I love facials as much as the next girl, but this is very expensive. Facials can cost around 30-60 dollars a visit. I use to go every 5 weeks, can you just imagine how much it was a year?
Here are some tips one how to get great skin at home:
  • Yogurt: My mum told me to use yogurt and a few drops of honey to make your skin nice and soft.
  • Oatmeal: I use it whenever I run out of my supplies. Its a good exfoliator. Mix it with some honey to make it sticky and gently rub it on your skin. Don't do it everyday though. I exfoliate twice a week during winters and once a week during spring and summer. I have oily skin just to let you know.
  • Aloe Vera: This is the best thing in the world. This plant not only help me get soft skin, but it helps with acne scars. Just make sure to apply it as fast as possible. The minute you know you will have a scar, put some on. Don't go outside when the sun is out.(my mum told me that)
Olay: I love Olay products. I think they work very well for me. I use them because my mum uses them as well. They are not even that expensive, in my opinion.

Nails
Source
Tips on how to make your nails cute and spend little to no money.
  • Do your own mani/pedi. Buy your favorite nail polish and have a little spa day.
  • Get a cute pedicure set like this one from Sallys.
  • Also get a cute manicure set like this one from Target.

ClothesSource

I love shopping. I could shop all day if I had all the money in the world. Sometimes I need a blazer or a sweater and don't feel like paying full price for it.
  • Go to your local thrift store or Goodwill. I found a great military-like Blazer for only 10 dollars. YAY!
  • Closets: Get permission from your mum and the boyfriend, and go through their closet to find something you can use. I found a great vintage dress in my mum's closet.
Sometimes we see our favorite celeb wearing a cute shirt or shoes, and you think " I can't afford that." Well you can. One of my favorite blogs is The Look 4 Less. Its a blog that finds cheaper version of a designer item. Take a look and you will find amazing things.

These are just some tips I have. I would probably add more later on.
Also I want to say

Merry Christmas

Concerts!!!!

Who doesn't like concerts? The music, the amazing stage, and best of all your favorite artist being so close you could scream. Many of us like to dress for the occasion, which isn't a bad thing. I love dressing up for the concert. I like to dress according to the artist, the music, the time, and what I personally love. So here I will give you some tips on how to dress for your favorite artist and I hope I give you some ideas. Note: Some of these artist and/or concerts may not be performing right this moment but we all know they will sooner or later. Why not get ready now? :-)
I will try to make a different post each day on different concerts.
Lady Gaga:(Photo Credit: 1,2)

I want to start this of with my personal favorite artist, Lady Gaga. I know she is touring right now and for you lucky people that get to go ( she isn't playing in Texas last time I checked) here are some outfits for her Monster Ball Concert.

This first outfit is for a girl that feels well girly but with just a bit of edge. The hair bow, as we all know, was started by Lady Gaga, so why not wear it to her concert.
LG

Our next outfit is totally edgy, but it also screams Gaga. If you don't feel like wearing a skirt then maybe a cute pair of black skinny jeans will work for you. You can also add a cute military jacket to keep you warm, if it gets a little chilly wear you live.
LGC

This next one is for the girl that loves to show off her favorite artist on a t-shirt, but she still wants to look chic.
llg

Tips For This Concert:

  • Lady Gaga is an over-the-top performer, which is why I love her. She has extreme style, Check my post on her unique style
  • Don't be afraid to take a fashion risk. Trust me, half of the people going to her concert are going all dressed up.
  • If you plan to wear heels, bring a pair of flats. I am a heels girl. I know that concerts are not the best place to wear heels, but I can't help it. So, always bring a pair of flats once your feet start to cry.
I actually love Footzyrolls. According to their website, they are flats that roll and fit into your purse. So once your feet start to hurt, you can put on your Footzyrolls. They come in cute colors and look comfy.
  • Put anti-frizz serum on your hair before you go to your concert. With so many bodies, don't be surprise that it gets hot and humid and we all know that's a no-no for a girls hair.
  • Avoid the raccoon eyes. Again because it gets hot and humid, its important to wear waterproof make-up. I can't tell you how to do your make-up, but what I can tell you is , in many cases, less is more.
If you want to go bold, make sure that you pick one part to go bold. Either eyes or lips, never both. (unless, of course, that's the look you are going for)
  • Take care of your purse. Don't take a huge purse that anyone can just stick their hands in there without you realizing it. Also, don't take a clutch purse because (personally) they can be easily stolen from you, since they are small. Bring a medium size purse like this shoulder bag from Forever21.
  • Last thing: HAVE FUN!. It's Lady Gaga. So "Just Dance", sing very loud and also don't forget to scream.

Remember I will post more concerts during these few days. I hope you get some ideas for your next concert. Let me know what concerts are going to happen this coming year.
Much Love.<3>

Holiday outfits...

Many of us are getting ready for the Holidays. I know I am. Since the Holidays are a great opportunity to dress up, I decided to put some cute outfits together.

Winter Wonderland:

I love winter. When I think of winter, I think about snow, ice, blue and white all over. So this outfit is inspired by that.

Winter

Look Good With Red:

I think red is a very Christmas color, so why not wear it for the holidays. My tip will be to just let one of the items be red. I think this is a bold color and adding neutral colors like black will make that piece of red POP.

Cold Winter Night:
Many of us live in a cold town or city. Some live in a place where it snows during the holidays, so this outfit is for you.

My Favorite Trends Part 1

What can I say, I love trends. Don't get me wrong vintage is great and unique but some of the trends are just too cute to pass.

I have here my favorite trends that I wish to share with you all, and I ho
pe I can give you some ideas for your next outfit.

Leggings:(Photo Credit: 1)

I am a Leggings girl I most confess. I probably own like 5 or so of leggings. I think they are so comfy and very stylish. I should also say that leggings are NOT like pants. So please don't wear them like pants. By that I mean, the shirt or dress that you wear with your leggings should be long enough to cover your butt.(hope that makes sense.)

Example on how I wear my leggings:

Leggings

Leggings, Shirt, Cardigan, Shoes, Earrings, Purse- All forever21

Over-The-Knee Boots(photo credit: 1)

I love love love boots. I can say I got it from my mom. She got me into boots when I was a little girl. Boots and heels actually. Now that I think about it, my first pair of heels were when I was still in elementary school (small heel but nonetheless a heel)
Any ways back to the over the knee boot trend. I still don't own a pair but I have tried them on, and I absolutely love them. I am a shorty (5'2ish) and I can rock them, so all my shorties try them before you say no.

Some Of My Favorites:

Since I don't own a pair, I can only show you the boots I personally like. Some of these can be a little expensive, but they are so worth it.

Celeb #3

To continue my blog, Lights, Camera, Fashion, here is Celeb #3....

Victoria Beckham

Love her or hate her, you have to admit that she developed her own signature style. Everyone knows her style. Simple yet totally chic, slim silhouettes, dark colors, very high heels, and she also has her own clothing line that represent her personal style.

The Hair Cut:
Remember her signature hair cut. I remember when everyone wanted to rock that hairstyle, myself included. The fact that people asked their hair stylist, " I want the Victoria Beckham haircut", shows that THAT is her unique look.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes...
One of the few things I noticed about our celeb. is her shoes. Some of her shoes are so unique and out there. She is always seen with high high heels, I wonder how she walks in them. They are so chic and really makes her stand out.

What our Celeb Wears...
The other thing I noticed is that she is one of the few celebs ( that I know of) that wear a few of her things more than once, which I love. I think its great because she wears them in a new completely different way.

Victoria Beckham is always dressed up. By that I mean she never looks messy, out of place, and dirty. She looks like she takes forever to get ready each day. Remember guys she is also a mother so imagine how hard it is to keep up with young kids and look fierce. But I love that about her.
I think it's good to at least try to dress up every day, because well go here to know why...College Fashion- 25 reasons why you should dress up Every day...

Celeb #2

So I haven't had the chance to write another Blog, sorry. Well here is Celeb #2 of Lights, Camera, Fashion...

Rihanna

Rihanna has a unique style that at times I do not agree with, but I admire her unique style. I noticed that her personal style has changed so much through out the years. Its like her CD, a good girl gone bad, just kidding. But anyways here is some pictures of Rihanna showing of her style.
The Haircut:

One thing about Rihanna is her hair style. It is always changing and unique, remember when she first had long hair. Now she has short hair and with some blond. I personally don't like it, but again it works for her. She is unique, not to mention talented.
What She Wears:

The things that I noticed about Rihanna's style is a lot of black, tight clothing, many accessories, weird-cool sunglasses and a rocker edge. She adds many things together and can make it work, at times. ( again my opinion) But I do love her style. A lot of her shoes are too die for.

Since I am very into Rocker-Edgy-Chic, I like some of the things Rihanna wears, I especially like the jewelry, SO HOT.

I hope you like the outfit, and get some ideas.
Remember I do plan to add more Celebs with their own personal style, if you can think of a celeb with personal style, leave a comment and let me know.

Much Love
P.S. If anyone is offended by the see through dress. Let me know and I will remove it. Thank You & Much Love

Lights, Camera, Fashion.....

I love clothes. I love Hollywood, glam and anything that expresses my personality.

So for today's post I want to put Celebs that have their own sense of style.
Today is only part 1 of my many post on Celebs and their personal style. I hope you like who I pick and maybe get some ideas.

First Celeb:

Lady Gaga:

Yes, Lady Gaga. She is amazing. Her outfits are out of this world. I know many of us wont be wearing some of her outfits in the real world anytime soon, but you have to respect her for her way of expressing herself.

One of her famous accessory is the hair bow(literally) She usually seen in a blond one but I like this purple one too. Now many celebs and even her fans have been seen with the hair bow.(photo credit: 1, 2)

What Lady Gaga is also known for, fashion wise, is her no-pants thing. She does wear pants ones in a while but as you are aware she is almost seen with out them.

Outfit Inspired by our Celeb:

-Top: charlotte russe- Leggings, shoes, bow, sunglasses: Forever 21- Gloves: TopShop

I hope you like the outfit. If you do and want more let me know.
Again take a sample of what Lady Gaga does. She dresses how she likes and doesn't care what people think. We should all wear what we want. We should be able to express our personalities.

Much Love
J
